There is nothing more exciting than the Holidays and a nice movie to remind us of the good things about the holidays.
I was fortunate to receive a copy of the New “Sofia the First Holiday in Enchancia” DVD to review, and well also to enjoy. I don´t know what it is about the holidays and this series that as soon as it started I became very emotional. I think it is very cool that there is a younger Disney princess so that more girls can feel connected to this lovely character, not that the previous Disney princesses didn´t make us love them, I just think it is great that they decided to add a younger princess to the club.

Though Sofia the First has now been around for a few years, this is the first Holiday video that comes out, and let me tell you that it is a great adventure.

Summary of Episodes:

Sofia The First: Holiday in Enchancia
Deck the halls and ring in the season! It may be the coldest day of winter, but it's also the warmest, merriest adventure ever for SOFIA THE FIRST. Welcome to the most magical time of the year! This is Sofia's first Winter Holiday in the castle with her new family, but when King Roland goes missing in a raging snowstorm, Sofia leaders her mother, Amber and James on a brave expedition aboard a flying sleigh to find him. As the blizzard whirls around them, their hopes are nearly dashed -- until Princess Aurora appears and reminds Sofia that her animal friends might hold the key to finding her dad and reuniting her family. Sparkling with festive fun -- plus four additional song-filled episodes -- HOLIDAY IN ENCHANCIA celebrates the greatest gift of all: spending special days with the people you love!
Message:
This episode teaches the value of teamwork, and how it is more important to be with those you love rather than receiving lots of gifts, specially during the holidays.

Baileywick´s Day Off
When Baileywick confesses that it´s his Birthday, the King commands him to take the day off to celebrate with his older brother and enjoy things they liked when they were kids. Their plans do not work out when everytime Baileywick was heading out of the Castle, someone asked for his help. He gladly helped everyone in need of his services every time, but this made him loose the opportunity to enjoy his Birthday with his brother. However, there is still one last surprise up Sofía´s sleeve.
Message:
This episode teaches to be more considerate with those people we always take for granted, and that they should also enjoy their special days. The people in our lives that share every day by our side, even if they are not flesh and blood, should also be considered family, because at the end they do care for us as such. Being generous is a virtue and being thoughtful a gift.

The Little Witch
Every story that includes princes, and princesses must have a witch somewhere. Sometimes good, sometimes evil, but what if the nature of the witch can be changed by true friendship? In this episode a mischievous little witch learns that doing good deeds can get you to have friends rather than enemies. Sofia and her friends make a new magical friend, and enjoy a fun birthday party.
Message:
Being mean or playing tricks on others is no way to make friends. Good deeds are always a great way to make friends and to have people like you for who you are. Everyone deserves a chance to be forgiven if they have done something wrong, and that person should appreciate the second chance and make things right for a change.

The Baker King
A ball is being prepared at the castle to have the whole village celebrate. With so many things to do, the King feels overwhelmed and wishes he had a simpler life, thinking that this will make him have less things to worry about. His wish comes true, and for one day, he finds himself as the village´s baker. At the beginning he saw it as an opportunity, but it soon became harder than he thought. With the help of Sofia and the whole royal family, things get back to normal before the ball gets canceled.
Message:
This episode´s message is about being careful with what you wish for, as it may come true. It also reminds the viewers that no-one knows what they have until it´s gone, as well as as how vanity may have it more complicated to other people we truly have to appreciate for their hard work and not take them for granted.

Four´s a Crowd
Princess Amber receives help from Sofia and her friends to arrange the carriage that will be used during the annual Flylight Pageant. Sofia´s friends start having so much fun with Princess Amber that Sofia ends up feeling displaced and left out. Concerned about loosing her friends to her sister, Sofia tries to remind them of how much fun they used to have, and ends up accidentally messing up all the hard work they had done. Nevertheless, teamwork and the value of true friendship saves the day, as they enjoy of the new friendship addition.
Message:
This episode shows a lovely message about how you should not try so hard to make friends. True friends are forever, and it is okay to share friends with your siblings.

Likes:
This is a very lovely and gentile series with fun songs and very charming messages. I love the musicals in each episode, the gentile nature of each character, and the surprises that come up with every adventure. This is a great addition to any kid´s DVD collection. I don´t think it matters much if it is a boy or a girl, I think this series is very entertaining to all kids that like to have fun and sing to Disney´s movies.

Dislikes:
There was a glitch in the animation of the video, but that could had been only my copy. Aside of that, there was nothing that I really disliked about this series.

Overall:
I enjoyed this DVD as much as I have enjoyed previous Sofia´s adventures. I truly recommend this series for parents who are fans of Disney´s movies to watch with their little ones, or just to entertain your little ones with great messages to learn from each episode. I love that many of these Disney Junior DVDs come with gifts for your kids to play with and enjoy. With the holidays coming soon, this would be an excellent gift for the little ones in your life.
