As many of you know, we are getting ready to expand our family. Our goal had made us more aware of products, and research that would help us be more prepared when we finally become parents for the first time. Both my husband and I have been discussing the lifestyle we want to have as parents, and one of those mayor decisions, to which we both agreed was babywearing.

In my amusement for all the benefits that babywearing brings into the family and the relationship between the parent that is babywearing and the baby, I try to look for the best quality products that are available in the market. The reason for this is simple. When your baby has finally arrived, you can't help but have most of the attention on the baby. Therefore, in my case, I feel I would be distracted in respect of noticing these little details that for me, on a normal basis, are extremely important. This is the reason why trying out products before the baby comes is such a valuable thing in my life right now.

I was recently introduced to Wrapy®, a baby wrap created by a family company eager to create a product that would keep the little one safe and secure, while allowing freedom to do other activities. I was kindly invited to try the product to share my own honest and personal experience with it, and with my love for all things babywearing, I had to say yes!

A bit of background on the company;
The idea of Wrapy® came when the creator of the baby wrap felt she wanted to give a practical mommy-to-be gift to a relative of hers. Inspired by what was already on the market, she felt she could create an innovative product with high quality materials that could bring the same benefits we already know about babywearing, while also giving parents an alternative to the few known brands. Fascinated by the feel of different fabrics, and a meticulous search for comfort that could also provide a safe enough stretch, a new baby product was brewing. The gift was a success, and the people that tried the baby wrap during it's early beginnings loved it! With this in mind, and the great feedback the Wrapy® was born. 


The Wrapy® comes in a protective sack, made out of the same material as the wrap itself. You can find important information regarding the product in the label that covers the protective sack, which covers;

The manual is easy to read and follow. The graphics are visually appealing, and the manual also has safety features in the beginning so that it is the first thing you read about once you open it. It also includes four different wrapping methods, one of which is helpful if you intend to breastfeed while babywearing. It also shows you how to get the baby out of the wrap without having to remove the wrap from your own body. I felt that the instruction manual was very straight forward and covers the basic information to enjoy the use of the Wrapy®.

My take on the Wrapy®;
With products such as the Wrapy®, the most important thing to me, is the feel. According to the tag, the Wrapy® is made from 95% cotton and 5% Spandex. Right away, I noticed that the fabric felt very soft and smooth. I have worn baby wraps in the past, so I already knew which my favorite wrapping method was, therefore, it didn't take me long to try it on. The feel of the fabric was very comfortable on me. I placed "The Happy Baby Doll", my partner in baby-testing, on the wrap and just went on about some of my normal activities. It felt great! I was able to move around and do things around the house that did not require me to bend down.


The doll felt very secure in the wrapping position I chose to use. I even moved him trying to pull it away, imagining how some babies could respond to being in the same position, and still it felt very secure. Interestingly, considering that I was using a darker color with the Wrapy®, I did not feel warmer or sweaty in the area where I was covered with the fabric. This surprised me, but also got me excited. I knew I was sweating from other parts of my body (ew, I know!), but considering that I live in Sunny San Diego, and it can get pretty hot under the sun, this could be my favorite feature yet.


One thing that has always concerned me about wraps is the size. Mainly, because I am a curvy woman with some weight on. However, I was able to wrap myself with the Wrapy®, place a baby-sized doll in the wrap, and still had some fabric to knot it all the way to the front. I have always preferred to knot wraps in the back and have more fabric in case it loosens a little, but being able to see how I was able to wrap it twice around my waist was a biggie for me. I didn't feel like I had to worry and think about my weight; that way when the time comes, I know I can use the Wrapy® with my fourth trimester body. I also loved that this size feature, will allow my husband to use the wrap for babywearing, because yes--he already said he wanted to do it too.

Mine took only two days to arrive, I was so excited about it; I love fast shipping services! It comes in 4 different colors; black, navy blue, gray, and brick red. And while I do love other colors, to be honest, these are technically 80% of my closet's colors. So, I feel these are the colors that will help match almost anything you are wearing. Areas for improvement; 
There were only a couple of things that I thought could be improved, but nothing that affects the use of the Wrapy® in the long run. One was that there was a long string hanging from one edge. I think this was where the serger machine ended and someone just forgot to cut off that piece of thread. The other thing I noticed was with the silky tag. The problem I see and have seen in the past with these types of tags is that; either it fades away with the washes, or the threads that compose the tag starts falling apart. A little like shown in the photo. Both of these issues are easily remedied, one by cutting off the thread, which I did. The other, by changing the material the tag is made of to something more durable.

Suggestions;
Something I have yet to see, which I have not seen with other brands (and I could be wrong, and just not looked deep enough into it), is the language in which instructions are written in. While the booklet is in English, which is fine because we live in the United States, having online versions of the same booklet in other languages would be amazing. I am just throwing that concept out into the wind to see what happens.

In the overall; 
I loved this wrap. It was comfortable to wear, it kept cool, they have three of my favorite colors, and I felt confident enough that when we get to use it with our baby, he/she will be safe and close enough to our hearts. I am always very picky with the materials used to create products I use, this is because of my background in Industrial Design, however, I felt confident the Wrapy® will last and work just fine for my family's needs. Not only that, but knowing that the company backs their product with a Lifetime Guarantee, says a lot to me regarding their commitment to us as consumers.


I compared it to other baby wraps that I have, and the Wrapy® felt slightly lighter, which I really enjoyed because I get easily annoyed with heavy fabrics. As an artist, most of my activities are sketching, illustrating, writing, and taking photos. The Wrapy® allows me to do all of these activities and more. Having the baby close to make our bond stronger, without having to sacrifice most of our activities, I believe is very important to every parent. Babywearing is also great to do some light house work while keeping an eye on the baby, because he/she is literally with you at all times. Of course we have to consider that there are safety issues to keep in mind while babywearing, things that we should be prudent not to do, and that is where the importance of reading the manuals first, comes in handy. It definitely helps to do quick errands, such as; going out to the mail or shopping, be hassle free, since a stroller wouldn't be needed for such errands. Notice that I am not saying "NO" to the stroller at all. Unfortunately there are loads of places that ask you not to bring the stroller in because of space. This is where I believe the Wrapy® comes in so handy for the ease of transportation of your baby from here to there without such mentioned hassle. Plus, if you go check the Wrapy® on Amazon, you can see that at this point in time, it is pretty affordable compared to other wraps in the market (please consider that the price of the Wrapy® may change from the time you read this post, to the time you intend to purchase the item). For the time being, I think the Wrapy® will become one of my favorite methods of babywearing, and I would definitely recommend this wrap to all my friends and family (if you are reading this blog post, this includes you too).

Como muchos ya sabrán, nos hemos estado preparando para expandir nuestra familia. Tomarnos el tiempo de planear nuestra familia, nos ha dado la oportunidad de aprender acerca de nuevos productos para bebés y también tiempo de investigar información efectiva y conveniente para cuando llega un bebo a nuestras vidas, sobretodo para padres primerizos. Tanto mi marido y yo hemos estado hablando sobre el estilo de vida que queremos tener como padres, y una de esas decisiones incluye la crianza en brazos.

He estado muy contenta en aprender todos los beneficios que aporta la crianza en brazos para la familia y la relación entre los padres que utilizan este método y el bebé. En cuanto a este tema, he tratado de encontrar productos en el mercado con la mejor calidad para mayor beneficio y seguridad para con los pequeñines. La razón es simple; cuando el bebé finalmente llega a nuestras vidas, la mayoría de nuestra atención pasa a girar alrededor del pequeñín, y esto en mi caso, puede causar que detalles pasen desapercibidos tales como; comodidad, calidad, funcionalidad, y practicidad del producto. Detalles que a la larga son extremadamente importantes para mi y mi familia. Y es por ello que disfruto el probar productos que utilizaré con nuestros hijos mucho antes que lleguen a nuestras vidas, para darnos una idea de lo que funciona para nosotros, y los diferentes aspectos de diferentes productos.

Recientemente, me presentaron un producto de nombre Wrapy®, el cual es fular de tela creado por una empresa familiar con ganas de traer al mercado un producto que mantendría a el pequeñín seguro y a salvo. Así mismo dándole a el padre o madre usando el fular la libertad de movimiento para hacer diferentes actividades rutinarias. Esta compañía tuvo la amabilidad de invitarme a probar su producto para compartir mi honesta opinión sobre mi experiencia usando el fular Wrapy®. Considerando mi amor por todo en referente al tema de crianza en brazos, claro que dije que sí.


Un poco de historia acerca de la compañía;
La idea de Wrapy® se produjo cuando la creadora del fular decidió hacerle un regalo práctico a una pariente que estaba esperando bebé. Inspirada por algunos productos que ya estaban en el mercado, pensó en las posibilidades de crear su propia versión innovativa de el típico fular elástico usando materiales de alta calidad. De esta forma dándole a los padres usando el fular una alternativa a las pocas marcas que conocemos en el mercado. Fascinada por las diferentes texturas en telajes, y después de una búsqueda minuciosa con el fin de conseguir la comodidad para ambos el padre/madre y el bebé, y suficiente elasticidad para cubrir el uso de dicho fular de forma segura, el regalo resultó ser todo un éxito. Tanto su pariente como la gente que probó el producto quedaron encantados y con ganas de tener uno para ellos mismos. Con esta respuesta a su creación, es que nace Wrapy®.

El fular Wrapy® viene en un costal de protección hecho del mismo material que el fular. Este empaque tiene información importante sobre el producto, el cual cubre;

• El hecho de que incluye un folleto de instrucciones completa a todo color, recordándole al consumidor lo importante que es leerle antes de usar el producto con un infante, y
• Una gráfica de lo conveniente que es usar el producto.

No es difícil seguir las instrucciones en el manual, y está escrito en un lenguaje fácil de entender. Los gráficos son visualmente atractivos, y la información de seguridad en cuanto a el uso de el fular se encuentra al principio, de modo que permite al consumidor ver esta información importante antes de adentrarse a los métodos de uso. Después de las advertencias de seguridad, vienen explicados 4 métodos de uso para que el consumidor encuentre el que mejor le parezca. Este manual también indica como quitar a el bebé sin tener uno que desenvolverse del fular. Uno de los aspectos que disfruté ver en el manual fue la opción de uso si la madre decide usar el fular para amamantar discretamente. Este método de uso se me figuró muy útil y práctico aprovechando el uso de la crianza en brazos, sobretodo cuando uno está en público. En mi opinión, el manual cubre lo básico para el uso de este fular, y con la información descrita no me tomó mucho tiempo entender la función del Wrapy®.

Mi opinión sobre el fular Wrapy®;
Para mi, con productos como Wrapy®, lo más importante es: ¿Como me hace sentir? De acuerdo a la etiqueta, Wrapy® está hecho de 95% algodón y 5% Spandex. De inmediato noté que la tela se sentía muy suave y tersa. He usado fulares de otras marcas en el pasado, así que ya tenía una idea de mi método de uso predilecto, por lo tanto, no tardé en probarlo. Me sentí muy cómoda envolviéndome con el producto, y obviamente usé a "El Bebé Feliz", el cual es mi muñeco de prueba, para calar el fular mientras continuaba con algunas de mis actividades cotidianas. ¡Me sentí muy bien! Fui capaz de moverme libremente y hacer cosas en la casa las cuales no requieren de movimientos que pudieran poner en riesgo al bebé.


El muñeco se sentía muy seguro en la posición que decidí usar. Incluso lo moví tratando de tirar como imagino lo haría un bebé de verdad solo con la intención de ver que tanto podría moverse o desacomodarse de la posición en la cual debería estar. Otro punto es el de la temperatura. Considerando que vivo en el sur de California y el sol suele ser muy intenso, tenía un poco de temor por haber seleccionado un color obscuro. Sin embargo, el tipo de tela provocó que el área de mi cuerpo en donde estaba situada permaneciera fresca. Sé que hacía calor porque estaba sudando de otras partes (ya sé, guacala), pero no en el área donde me cubría el fular. De momento esta es mi característica favorita del producto, porque me desagrada mucho usar productos que te dejan toda sudada por traer prendas de más, sobretodo en verano.


Algo que siempre me tiene preocupada con productos como este, es el tamaño ya que no soy una mujer delgada. Sin embargo, con Wrapy®, no tuve ningún problema con darle incluso doble vuelta a el fular para amarrarlo por el frente, aunque normalmente lo prefiero amarrado en la parte de atrás. No tener esta preocupación en cuanto a tamaño, es significativo para mi ya que cuando uno necesita este tipo de productos para poder establecer un lazo así con el bebo. Este tipo de detalles es lo último que uno quiere tener en la mente como preocupación. Es bueno pensar que no tendré que estresarme tanto cuando tenga mi cuerpo del cuarto trimestre. Y hablando de despreocupaciones por el tamaño, considerando que mi esposo también quiere cargar a el bebé con este fular, me parece ideal que es solo un mismo tamaño para los dos.

Wrapy® viene en 4 colores diferentes; negro, azul marino, gris y rojo ladrillo. Francamente, aunque sí tengo otros colores en mi closet, casi todas mis prendas son de uno de estos colores mencionados, así que cualquier Wrapy® que yo escoja irá bien con lo que lleve puesto.

Áreas para mejorar;
Solo encontré un par de cosas que pensé podrían mejorarse con respecto a mi fular Wrapy®. Ninguna de las dos afecta el uso de mi fular a la larga, sin embargo, es solo parte de mi crítica constructiva en cuanto a el producto que me llegó. Por una parte, el final de la hilaza utilizada para el borde de el fular no fue cortado y colgaba de un lado como mostrado en la foto. Nada que un corte con tijeras no pudiera solucionar. Por otro lado la etiqueta; por el tipo de material usado, temo que con el tiempo se pueda despintar o deshilar ya que el material se deshila fácilmente como muestro en la siguiente foto. Aquí solo le recomendaría a la empresa cambiar el material de la etiqueta para que tenga mayor durabilidad, y para que aguante tanto la tinta como la información impresa tras varias lavadas. Considerando que los bebos tienen accidentes de vez en cuando, este es un producto que termina siendo lavado muchas veces.

Sugerencias para Wrapy®;
Algo que todavía no han visto en el mercado, en cuando a fulares vendidos en los Estados Unidos, es; ver el manual en diferentes idiomas, incluido el Español. Puedo estar en un error y haber pasado ver que alguna marca sí tiene esta información en otros idiomas aparte del Inglés. Sin embargo, de momento este es mi pensar y con un país tan diverso, creo es importante dar este servicio también. No tiene que ser necesariamente con el manual impreso, pero podrían ofrecer este servicio vía electrónica con un ebook. Solo voy a dejar esta información por aquí para ver que pasa a la larga.

En general;
Me encantó este fular. Super cómodo, se sentía ventilado y fresco en el área de mi cuerpo done le llevaba puesto, y a la venta están 3 de mis colores favoritos. Sentí tranquilidad de pensar que mi pequeñín va a estar seguro y cerca de mi corazón mientras use Wrapy®. La verdad soy muy quisquillosa con el tipo de material que se usa para los productos que tengo en mi posesión, y la culpa se la hecho a haber estudiado algo de Diseño Industrial. Pero estos conocimientos me han ayudado a tomar decisiones informadas en cuanto a la calidad de producto que incluyo para nuestras vidas cotidianas como familia para vivir mejor y para la conformidad de nuestra inversión con tales productos. Wrapy® no solo me da la seguridad y el confort, pero también ha generado mi confianza ya que ofrece garantía de por vida en su fular. Esto dice mucho de la empresa y me deja con una buena impresión de responsabilidad.


En comparación con otros fulares que tengo, Wrapy® se siente un poco más ligero. Esto me gustó mucho ya que suelo fastidiarme con prendas que son pesadas, y considerando que un fular termina siendo como una prenda muy, muy larga, el peso de el material es algo importante que considerar para mí. Simplemente no me gustan las telas pesadas. Como artista, la mayoría de mis actividades son el dibujo, escritura, y la fotografía. Wrapy® me permite hacer todas estas actividades y más, mientras de igual forma traigo a el pequeñín conmigo para darle mi atención. Me da gusto que existan productos como este que le permiten a uno trabajar en formar ese lazo con nuestros hijos desde infantes, sin tener que sacrificar actividades que simplemente forman parte de nuestra vida rutinaria. Claro que tenemos que considerar la seguridad primero, y no hacer actividades que pongan en riesgo al chiquitín que llevamos en brazos o en la espalda según como uno prefiera usar el fular. Y es por eso que los manuales son tan importantes. Pero usando la lógica y siendo prudentes, la crianza en brazos con nuestros estilos de vida hoy en día, es posible y es grata de disfrutar.

Definitivamente me ha ayudado a pensar que los mandados que no toman mucho tiempo, tales como; ir al buzón de correos, a la tienda de la esquina, o a la casa de la comadre, no tienen que convertirse en todo un caos solo por el tiempo que sacar una carriola y amarrar al bebo puedan tomar. Y ojo, no estoy diciendo que no hay que usar carriolas. Las carriolas ayudan en tantas formas. Es simplemente el hecho que hay mandados que si normalmente toman 5 minutos, no veo que con todo el caos que implica una carriola, ese mismo mandado tenga que tomar 20 minutos a media hora, y eso solo por lo que conlleva situar al peque en la carriola. Wrapy® es práctico y entre mis fulares, creo que terminará siendo mi favorito.
